Congratulations to the Year 11 class of 2020 

We were delighted today to see so many of our Year 11 students coming to school to celebrate their GCSE results and take up their places in LaSWAP, our 6th form consortium. 

William Ellis is a strong community where boys are cared for and supported throughout their time here. We would like to praise the resilience of students in dealing with the disruption and challenges of this summer – and express our relief that they did not face the same uncertainty as 6th form students did last week.  

We are absolutely delighted with the results for our students and hugely relieved that they did not face the uncertainty and difficulty of our older students last week. Throughout their time at the school this group have shown great camaraderie and have made strong progress.  It was fabulous to see so many of our students yesterday who came to school to discuss their results and secure their next steps. We would like to praise the resilience of students in dealing with the disruption and challenges of this summer, and staff for the support they have provided throughout. 

As always, we have many students with excellent results: Jamie Cedar achieved seven grade 9s, two grade 8s and a grade 7; Marco Junemann Holmes achieved five grade 9s and five grade 8s, and Andre-Pierre Tejan Jalloh four grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and a grade 6. These stories of exceptionally high achievement are within a wider context of a whole cohort who have made excellent progress and obtained the grades that they need to take up places on academically challenging A Level courses, vocational awards and apprenticeships. 

Many have already begun their next stage of study, starting an Extended Project Qualification during the summer term under the guidance of LaSWAP teachers. Today we are welcoming many of them to school to enrol in our 6th form consortium, which offers the widest range of courses of any institution in north London. 

The school celebrates its challenging and distinctive curriculum including a commitment to all students studying a Modern Foreign Language to GCSE. This year, 93% of students achieved an EBacc qualification and 42% studied three separate GCSEs in Science.
