The main aims of our Department are:

  • To stimulate pupils' interest and curiosity about a range of cultures and time periods.
  • To foster inquisitive minds who can confidently analyse both sources and historical interpretations.
  • To encourage pupils to draw upon a wide range of knowledge in order to make historical judgements.

GCSE History follows the AQA specification with the following options:

America, 1920–1973: Opportunity and inequality

Conflict and tension in Asia, 1950–1975

Britain: Migration, empires and the people: c790 to the present day

Norman England, c1066–c1100

GCSE Sociology follows the AQA specification and builds on knowledge and understanding developed across History, Georgraphy and RE at Key Stage 3.
